Who's it for?
If you are still at a fairly early stage in your business career, then this is the course for you. You may have a few years’ working experience, or you may be coming to the end of your business studies and preparing yourself for the workplace. Some business experience is certainly useful, but not essential.
Course content
Course content
The following areas provide the framework for the course:
- presenting your own career, company organisation (where appropriate) and current management issues
- aspects of a company's business – eg products, services, marketing, finance
- simulated business meetings and negotiations
- simulated business telephone calls
- presenting facts and figures, graphs and describing economic and social trends
- comparing working habits and cross-cultural issues
- recruitment practice and procedures
When business people are speaking with clients and contacts, discussion often turns to broader matters. The course reflects this by providing practice in a range of topical issues such as:
- current affairs
- environmental and social questions
- political issues
- education and training
- advertising and the media
- technology and the impact of computerisation
We give participants greater confidence in taking part in and chairing business meetings and negotiations. Therefore we would cover appropriate communication strategies such as:
- agreeing and disagreeing
- interrupting
- clarifying and confirming
- asking for comments
- summarising
- asking appropriate questions
- challenging/defending an opinion
- persuading and compromising
- making proposals, offers, suggestions
- opening/closing meetings
Professional hospitality, entertaining visitors and handling social situations are important for many business people, as is confidence when using the telephone. Areas covered would therefore include:
- meeting and greeting
- receiving visitors
- socialising
- using the telephone effectively
- practice in communicating more complex ideas and discussing problems

Great time. I've learned a lot. English you can use afterwards, not too theoretical, but really useful English.

For me it was an amazing experience of studying English here. I have met here many people from other countries around the world. I like my lessons. I have never enjoyed my lessons so much. There are so many different tasks to do, so many competitions. It’s wonderful!
I’d come here to improve level of my English. I didn’t believe exactly, that it could help me so much. I really need English not only for my future profession, but also for me. Because I really like the strict harmony of the language, enjoy reading classical British literature like Jane Austen, William Somerset Maugham, Lewis Carroll. I also like watching BBC movies and films in the original language.
This course has already helped me to start speaking. It’s very important! It was very hard to do in my country. Thank you for your help! I specially thank my teacher Carrick Cameron!

The London School of English is a little bit pricey, but they certainly deserve that. You can't meet as many of your expectations at any other language school as you get at this school.
Every Friday we have a lecture and they are stunning. We have a chance to learn current affairs, not only English from books. To summarize, if you want to boost your English, you should register for a course at the London School of English. Because this school is a gem.
