Emergency treatment in hospitals is free for everyone wherever you come from.

If you are able to get to hospital go to the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department (see 'Where to go for treatment').

If there is a real emergency and you need an ambulance, call 999 or the Europe-wide emergency number 112. This is free from any telephone, including mobile phones. You will be asked which service you require: Fire, Ambulance or Police.
