The London School of English has never limited its activities to its courses in London. As long ago as the 1960s it regularly sent teams of teachers to work for clients abroad, and in recent years it has run courses in locations both within Europe - such as Norway, Germany, Switzerland and Poland - and further afield, such as China, Mozambique, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.

Our work in Sweden started on the same basis, but has now developed into a highly successful company in Stockholm, providing language training and other language services to an impressive range of important government and commercial clients.

Courses abroad may be very short - typically one week - or may be more extensive (our work in Kyrgyzstan lasted over a year).

Clients who ask us to send teachers to work abroad typically ask us to provided specialised services which may not be available from local providers, although we are able to offer a wide variety of courses including General English.

Where courses are specialised this may be in terms either of

  • Subject matter, for example
    • English for Banking and Finance
    • English for Lawyers
    • English for Insurance
    • English for Human Resources
    • Specialised courses written for the individual client

or

  • Skills, for example
    • Presentations
    • Meetings
    • Negotiations
    • Inter-cultural

In some cases courses may offer specialisation of both subject matter and skills. For example, we ran a course for the Press Centre of the Atomic Energy Authority of Russia developing the ability of staff to respond to questions from, and to conduct interviews with, foreign journalists, all contextualised within the field of nuclear power generation and safety issues. For the Swedish government we have done a great deal of work for officials with international responsibilities, usually within the EU. Specifically in the context of the Swedish EU Presidency our work involved chairing skills, meetings skills and cross-cultural skills, usually highly contextualised depending on the working needs of the participants (agriculture, environment, industry etc).

I like the school very much. The staff are very friendly and open. I feel very comfortable studying in London, especially as we are provided with all the necessary things such as maps and tourist information.
