London is world-famous for its non-stop party life, late night bars and clubs. This page will focus on late night bars and nightclubs. However, there is something for everyone in London and if you prefer something different use the links below:

Restaurants & Pubs

The minimum age to get into any club is 18, however, some clubs have an 'over 21' policy. It is a good idea to carry ID (identification) with you that proves your age, particularly if you look younger than 21 years old.

Late night bars

Traditionally pubs and bars in England close at 23.30. However, it is now possible for them to stay open later if they have a special license. Many pubs, in particular, still close at 23.30, but you will probably find a few that stay open until midnight or 01.00. If you want to stay out later but you do not want to go to a nightclub you need to go to one of the many bars that stay open later than most pubs. A lot bars that stay open late will charge for entry, particularly if you arrive late in the evening, but normally if you arrive before 21.00 you will not need to pay to get in. Some late night bars have small dance floors and some will have a dress code.

Below are some of the late night bars that our students have enjoyed in the past. Email us if there are any others you think should be listed here.

The Lonsdale - great place for a cocktail in Notting Hill, also with a restaurant.

Beach Blanket Babylon - chic and sophisticated bar and restaurant in Notting Hill.

The Book Club - a cultural bar and restaurant bringing diversity to the East End's social scene.

The clubbing scene in London is probably the most exciting it has ever been. Each night (even Sundays) you will find a fantastic variety of music to dance the night away to, from funky 70's beats and cheesy 80's pop to thumping drum n bass and jazzy Latin sounds. World famous club nights are resident in London including the mighty Ministry of Sound and the pure nostalgia of School Disco.

Nightclubs located around Leicester Square tend to be over-priced and for tourists - we would suggest you avoid them! If you would like the experience of a large nightclub, the Ministry of Sound is worth trying.

Details of club nights can be found in the weekly listings magazine, 'Time Out', available from most newsagents (there is also a copy at Reception). It is worth checking this out as venues and nights sometimes change. It is also a good idea to contact the club directly to check out the best time to arrive as many of the clubs, particularly at weekends, have long queues. Some clubs operate a dress code so this is also worth confirming before you get there.

On Friday and Saturday, some of the tube lines have a 24-hour Tube service, please check for further details on the Transport for London website.

London has a night bus service, which operates when the regular transport services do not (midnight to 06.00 approx.). Buses travel to and from Trafalgar Square to all parts of London. One-day-travelcards are valid on these buses for any journey started before 04.30 of the following day.

The following are a few nightclubs that are quite close to our schools and popular with students.

Notting Hill Arts Club - the artsclub (as it is known) has a cool party vibe and music sessions most evenings during the week and weekend afternoons, as well as their bigger Friday and Saturday nights.

The following are popular club nights in London. We recommend you check them before you go as they can change periodically.
