Introducing Scott Bushell
"My name is Scott Bushell and I am delighted to be your main point of contact for The London School of English group for the future.
I trained as an ESL teacher in 1994 and have over twenty years' experience in the sector. During this time I have had a wide range of roles including senior teacher, Director of Studies and School Principal.
Before I joined The London School of English I set up and managed for seven years a successful communication skills centre exclusively for Japanese expatriates and their families living in North and West London.
My clients at this time were very diverse, including business people (for example employees of Japanese banks including Mizuho Financial Group, Mitsubishi UFJ and SMBC at a difficult time in Japanese banking history when a number of mergers were taking place), private individuals and children. Quite often the training had a very specific outcome, ranging from university entrance preparation for both teenagers and mature students going to the London Business School, to the preparation of a businessman for interview and job offer at Morgan Stanley. I also found myself involved in organising weekend cultural activities including tours of the Royal Opera House or tea at the Savoy Hotel.
All this work gave me a very good insight into the culture and specific communication skills needs of Japanese people and the training needs, both linguistic and intercultural, that Japanese businessmen need when working alongside their British and European co workers.
Since 2011 I have been working for the London School of English, both as a trainer and also responsible for Business Development. I am based in Canterbury and originally my work focused on that school, but in the last few years we have fully integrated our operations and I now represent our English courses in both London and Canterbury, and also The London School of International Communication and LondonSchool Online.
In the last few years I have been involved in a diverse range of countries - Italy, Russia, Turkey, Spain and Germany – and I am now very excited to return to a culture I am very familiar with and have deep respect, admiration and enthusiasm for.
Although I have worked so much with Japanese clients I have not yet visited Japan and I am greatly looking forward to doing so in the very near future.
You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org and + 44 20 7605 4181 (office phone). My mobile phone number is + 44 7795 087 946."
