Our new General English 30+ programme is a highly practical English course for adults aged 30 years and over who want to develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. Our experienced trainers will help to develop your fluency, accuracy and spontaneity through dynamic role-plays and real life scenarios, both inside and outside the classroom. Agreed objectives at the start of the course and continuous progress checks ensure effective learning and measurable results.

Course content

The areas that you can expect to cover during a typical course

The day is split into two parts - Morning session & Afternoon session:

Morning Session

London: 09:15 - 12:45 including 30 minute coffee break

Canterbury: 08.45 - 12.00 including 15 minute coffee break

15 hours per week

You will spend the morning developing your general English skills. Key areas include:

  • speaking English
  • listening to a wide range of audio materials
  • practical grammar
  • expanding vocabulary
  • better communication strategies, including pronunciation
  • confident and fluent reading
  • better writing
  • discussions and role-plays

Afternoon Session

London: 13:45 - 15:45 (Friday afternoon free - no classes)

Canterbury: 13.30 - 15.15 (Friday afternoon free – no classes)

7 hours per week

In the afternoons the work is based on a number of different topic areas, depending on the interests and needs of the group. Topics can include:

  • social and intercultural English
  • English for work and travel
  • modern British culture
  • films and other arts
  • media, news and views

Friday afternoons are free for you to spend more time exploring London or Canterbury,  extend your weekend or do self-study.
