It's important to note that there's no perfect level. When selecting your level, consider the following:   

  • Choose the level that best aligns with your current skills and requirements. 
  • Reflect on your learning style: Do you prefer a balanced mix of new topics and revisiting what you already know, or are you up for a more challenging environment where you might not have all the required knowledge? 
  • If the latter, are you willing to invest some extra effort outside the classroom to bridge any gaps in your knowledge?

Japanese Course Levels 

The content of the Japanese courses is going through a revision process. Please don't take under consideration the below descriptions. The official program will be published on Thursday the 9th of May. We apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Beginner

A1.0

What will I achieve?

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Exchange greetings 
  • Recognise Japanese characters
  • Use basic classroom expressions
  • Give a simple self introduction
  • Talk briefly about your family(age, where they live) using a family photo 
  • Talk about breakfast and your favourite food and dishes
  • Talk with a friend about where to go for lunch

        • Japanese Alphabet: Hiragana(reading and writing)

              You will cover the following cultural aspects:

              Coursebook Units 

              The teacher will cover the whole of Topic 1 to Topic 3 of Marugoto: Japanese Language and Culture Starter A1. Hiragana and Katakana are introduced, but you are expected to be able to read and write Hiragana at the end of the A1.1 level, and Katakana at the end of A1.2 level . Some Kanji (Chinese characters) are also introduced but only reading, not writing letters. The course book will be the basis of the class but your trainer will also use other material.

              To join the Japanese level A1.1 course, we recommend you have a basic knowledge of the following:
