Policies and procedures to ensure your happiness
Safeguarding
We recently completed a full British Council inspection and are proud to have achieved 15 out of 15 strengths (including a strength for 'Safeguarding Under 18s). Click here to see the report.
At the London School of English, we understand how important it is for our Young Adults in London to feel safe and secure whilst they are away. This is always our top priority. We have dedicated, trained staff available at all times throughout their stay. We are available to our Young Adults day and night and we are always available to help on a practical or emotional level.
Our low staff-to-student-ratio ensures that each individual is cared for and safeguarded to the highest standards. We take every precaution to make sure that there will not be any difficulties, but we understand that for some students, this experience is a big step. With this in mind, we are committed to promoting positive mental well-being for all our students while they are here with us. Our staff are kind, caring and experienced in noticing and addressing any problems students may face at an early stage. In this way, we can prevent these problems from becoming larger issues.
We provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment where our young adults can live and learn safely. Their mental well-being and welfare is always our number one priority and a responsibility we take very seriously at all times.
In the unlikely event that your child is unwell or injured while in our care, we have comprehensive procedures in place to look after them and keep parents and guardians informed at all times.
Your child will have a 24-hour phone number that they can call at any time if they have any problems, from arrival to departure.

Supervision
We have planned, supervised activities from breakfast at 8am to bed at 10pm. No student will be left alone if they don’t wish to be.
We recognise that our students need some independence and free time so we have strict protocols in place to make sure that they can have some freedom, but we still know where they are at all times.
There are 2 points where we allow independence for students that is not supervised:
- Walking between the residence and the classrooms. A member of staff will check them out of the residence and another member of staff will be waiting for them at the classrooms to check them in.
- Free time for some afternoons. We have planned activities every afternoon but sometimes, students would like some free time instead. If they would like to go outside the residence to have free time for an afternoon they must:
- - always be in pairs or bigger groups, never alone.
- - share their live location continually with the activity leader.
- - stay in the agreed 15 min radius of the residence.
- - have the phone sound switched on.
- - Always answer a call from the designated phone
Consent Forms
Please download the parental consent and medical form here.
The parental consent form for students to be temporarily withdrawn from the programme can be found here
Students who are 18 during the course
Students must be between the ages of 15 and 18 years when they start the course. If they are 18, they must continue to follow the rules we set for students on the course. We have a strictly no alcohol policy for students on our summer programme.
Behavioural Guidance Policies
Keeping our students safe, secure and happy is our top priority. You can read our behaviour and disciplinary policies here
