Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE)

In 2017, Cambridge renamed their exams. The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) is now called Cambridge C1 Advanced.

Our Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE) Preparation course is designed to give you the key language skills and strategies to achieve your best possible result. The CAE certificate is an internationally-recognised qualification which shows that you can use English at an advanced, C1 level.

The CAE qualification is an ideal way to show to your employer or university or college that you are able to use English at an advanced level. The certificate is recognised as proof of your level of English in over 100 countries worldwide and can be very useful for your professional career and further studies.

Course Content

The course will focus on all of the main skills that are required in the CAE exam:

  • Writing

  • Reading

  • Use of English (vocabulary and grammar)

  • Preparation for CAE speaking test

  • Listening papers

  • CAE practice papers

As part of the course, you will take a full mock CAE exam to give you an idea of what to expect and to get you used to working under examination conditions. You will also concentrate on developing good exam techniques and practise with past CAE exam papers.

Optional self-study: Before or after your classes, you can use the Self-Study Area in your centre. There are computers, a printer and plenty of desk space available. The Self-Study Areas are available whenever our centres are open. See the opening times for our centres here.

Level 1 (Beginner)

I do not speak any English.

Level 2 (Elementary)

I can say and understand a few things in English.

Level 3 (Pre-Intermediate)

I can communicate simply and understand in familiar situations but only with some difficulty.

Level 4 (Low Intermediate)

I can make simple sentences and can understand the main points of a conversation but need much more vocabulary.

Level 5 (Intermediate)

I can speak and understand reasonably well and can use basic tenses but have problems with more complex grammar and vocabulary.

Level 6 (Upper Intermediate)

I speak and understand well but still make mistakes and fail to make myself understood occasionally.

Level 7 (Pre-Advanced)

I speak and understand well but still make mistakes and fail to make myself understood occasionally.

Level 8 (Advanced)

I speak and understand very well but sometimes have problems with unfamiliar situations and vocabulary.
